How will you incorporate what you learned here in your course work?

I will begin by incorporating open source communication channels
and collaboration systems into my existing, non-open-source-specific
courses. In the beginning, this will be as simple as defining an
IRC channel with specific "office hours" for my courses. My goal
would be to get my students familiar with this form of communication
so widely used in open source projects. I also plan to have at least
one project that would involve students checking out and modifying some
existing code and handing in the assignment as a patch file. I believe
that I can implement these features even in introductory programming
courses.
